Do not use bleach on wool carpet and since bleach makes the carpet lighter it should never be used on any carpet rich in color as the color may fade away. Once lightened floor coverings can be easily dyed any color including white. Never use bleach on a wool carpet. So if you have found it absolutely necessary to use bleach for removing a stain from your carpet there are some steps you need to follow in order to successfully remove the stain without causing damage to the carpet.

White carpets are not created by the removal of colors and pigments. Scrubbing will force the bleach deeper into the carpet fibers. Bleaching a carpet is permanent and cannot be undone. Because bleach will stain a carpet it should only be used on white or near white carpets.

In fact bleach should be used mainly on white carpets which are not made of wool. Rub the area with a sponge and blot it dry with paper towels. Take care to blot with repeated dabbing motions instead of scrubbing. Spray undiluted white vinegar onto the carpet and let sit until you have achieved the desired color.

Bleach will destroy the color on any carpet that is rich in color and typically would only need to be used on white or near white carpet that has been stained with a dark hard to remove color. Make sure to use a white towel or one that you don t mind getting stained. Personally i get the stain wet with some hot water cover it with baking soda. They are dyed white.

Sometimes it helps to pat down the baking. It is also best for carpets that have been stained with hard to remove colors.
