I bought a plastic sleeve to store my son s birth certificate in. Many official documents such as degrees and diplomas and birth certificates have embossed security seals stamps or other marks. They were selling them at the photo kiosk by the passport office. I got to one of our embassies only to have it rejected.

For instance while it is not technically illegal the social security office prefers that you not laminate your social security card. Will australia post accept them for my passport application. If you intend using your certificate outside the country of origin then do not laminate your certificate. Why shouldn t i laminate documents.

But i didn t think it d be the same for birth certificates. After going through lots of stress to get my original birth certificate i quickly laminated it to have it protected. Anyone else s laminated and accepted. It is also highly inadvisable to laminate any documents to do with property ownership vehicle registration or business ownership.

Should be as long as the detail is legible and can be photocopied by australia post for the application.
